There can be certain scenarios where the emails sent from Neo accounts lands on the spam folder of the recipient. This article discusses around this case which explains the possibilities of the email landing on spam and solutions to avoid such situations.
DNS records not configured correctly
Domain blacklisted at recipient servers
Sender IP or domain blacklisted on remote blacklists
Emails landing on spam due to content check at recipient end
DNS records not configured correctly
For the emails to be sent correctly with all server records being right the domain should have the Neo SPF, DKIM and DMARC records added on the DNS settings of the domain under the authoritative DNS zone of that domain.
Please find the relevant articles below for setting up the above mentioned DNS records
SPF - Click here
DKIM - Click here
DMARC - Click here
| alert-warning | Please note that DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours. Hence after adding the above records you may need to wait for 48 hours before you can start using the Neo email services. |
Domain blacklisted at recipient servers
If your domain is blacklisted at the recipient servers end due to their users marking emails from your domain as spam, then the emails sent to those recipient servers can be marked as spam.
In Gmail, if this is the case you will be able to see a warning message like below on the email which is landed in the spam folder

There are couple of steps you can follow here to get the domain delisted from the recipient servers, which is mentioned below.
-
If you face the issue for Gmail recipients, you can submit a delisting form here to Gmail servers for delisting your domain from their blacklist.
alert-warning The form will ask for the original email headers which landed on the Gmail spam folder, which can be obtained by following the steps here
For other email service providers you will have to reach out to their support team to get your domain delisted from their servers.
-
The other way you can train the recipient server algorithms not to mark your email as spam is sending few test emails to different accounts under that email service provider and getting the same marked as not spam. This will train the recipient server algorithm to automatically mark your emails as not spam and move it directly to Inbox.
alert-warning The above steps will only resolve the issue gradually as the recipient server algorithms needs to be trained for auto marking your emails as not spam, and the same is not an immediate fix
Sender IP or domain blacklisted on remote blacklists
If the sending domain or the sending IP (If the emails are sent from any different server and not Neo) is blacklisted on remote servers then the emails sent from the same, can be either rejected or marked as spam by the recipient servers.
You can check the domain and IP blacklisting on Remote Blacklist servers here
In this case you will have to contact the support team of the servers which blacklisted your domain or sending IP ((If the emails are sent from any different server and not Neo) and get the same delisted from their end to fix the issue.
Emails landing on spam due to content check at recipient end
Apart from DNS checks, All the recipient email servers have there on spam filtering mechanisms where the content , words on the email, subject line, nature of emails and even the tone of the email body is analysed and taken a decision on marking an email as spam or not spam.
If certain wordings on your email is marked as spammy in the recipient email servers, while the email is received at their end, it will go ahead and check for the same and will mark the email as spam.
Unfortunately, Neo doesn't have control on the spam filtering algorithms of the recipient side and the only way to avoid such cases is to follow the best practices to improve email deliverability.
If the recipient server marks your domain as spam at their end due to the above parameters, then to solve the same, you will have to perform the steps here
